"So, I called the rehab locator number and they hooked me up within a few minutes.
I chose to do a longer term program, like 3 months, but there were plenty of cool 28-day
programs they found for me, too. It was kind of wild: 20 years of relapsing solved in a little
20 minute phone call."—Michael H., Miami, FL

Is Detox
Your Next Step?
Why detox and not just rehab? For those of you who haven't been through it, detoxification centers provide treatments to help you avoid a wickedly painful physical withdrawal. Trust us—detox is immeasurably worth it. Cold turkey is a week+ of unbelievable writhing around and suffering. In addition, a good detox program will not only offer you counseling during detoxification but also help you with your addiction, both emotionally and mentally, and with support services in your area to help decrease your chances of potential relapses. What's more, your detox center can help you find and coordinate getting you into a rehab once you're out of the woods. If you need help finding a detox in your area, visit HeroinLife's Detox click & find list below.
Is Rehab
Your Next Step?
Is it time? For some of us, rehab was the only way—it got us, literally, out of "the life," served as a place to begin eating again to restore our strength, and, yeah, it was a place to finally just stop and hear about the disease of heroin addiction in the company of other people in exactly the same life situation as you. And best of all? Rehab helped us begin to build some clean and sober muscle. If you feel you're ready for rehab, I urge you to call the Rehab Finder at 888-205-2376 to find a spot in your area immediately.

We & HIV.
Think clean needles & good condoms. Due to HIV, sharing needles (we've all done it) is worse than using itself; add unprotected sex to the mix and you get a nice frothy death cocktail. HeroinLife's advice doesn't stop after detox and it doesn't stop after rehab. So know this: HIV may not show up for three months, which is why we suggest you get tested every three months for the first few months you are clean. As always, if you're still using, we urge you to inquire at your local pharmacy about their clean needle exchange if you're unable to afford or get clean needles. Most pharmacies will work with you and see to it you get clean needles in exhange for your old ones (the trick is to pull the head pharmacist aside, not one of his assistants or cashiers. Be a little bold about it). Bottom line? Avoid unprotected sex and dirty rigs at all costs—at any cost. Finally, see our ads for Bare condoms by Durex—you won't find a better one—so go for it and use them (trust me).—Neal Boulton
